In order to produce pragmatic, creative and internationally competitive human resources that can lead the knowledge-based society in the 21st century, the College of Electronics and Information Engineering has established the educational objectives as follows, so that the college may cultivate specific abilities of the students, based on the field-oriented engineering education system in the electronics, information and communication fields.
The students in this department learn and carry out programs on electronic materials and applied elements related to electric and electronic fields, including semiconductors. The goal of this department is to produce high-level professionals, who are equipped with overall knowledge about electronic materials and applied elements and able to lead the industry, by combining every part organically from development of advanced and functional material and electronic elements to future systems. To achieve the goal, our students are cultivating their ability to be leaders in industrial fields by acquiring advanced major knowledge. Meanwhile, the department has been operating the Engineering Accreditation System since 2002 in order to provide curriculum resources focused on cultivating the ability with which the students may collect the cutting-edge technology information and grasp the future technology and research trends.
Training engineers who are able to accommodate themselves to new academic activities and environment
1. Cultivating the ability to solve engineering problems by creative thinking based on the learning of mathematics, basic science and other major knowledge
2. Cultivating the ability to design new materials and elements through practical education, in which electronic engineering and materials engineering are converged, and the ability to apply them to new technologies
3, Training professional engineers who have ethical thinking, sense of social responsibility and duty
4. Cultivating communication ability to deliver engineering knowledge, and cultivating the power related to globalization for professional technology exchange and cooperation
The curriculum of the undergraduate consists of basic major subjects such as Circuit Theory, Electromagnetics, Digital Logic Circuits, and the general major subjects such as Physics of Semiconductor Devices, Solid State Physics, Optical properties, and Magnetic Materials. And the in-depth courses in the 4th year focus on cultivating the sense of realism based on the education, which puts emphasis on practical job skills in the industries, through the subjects related to the technologies of semiconductor and new material applications. Therefore, the courses focus on learning broad and in-depth knowledge in various fields, so that the course may train professional engineers of electrical materials, who have abilities to carry out researches and develop new materials by themselves.
The graduates may get a position in various fields such as electricity, electronics, semiconductor, 3D display, solar battery and ceramics, on the basis of their knowledge related to electronics and materials engineering. Especially, the specialization of semiconductor engineering enables them have much more opportunities to get a position in the broad semiconductor market at home and abroad.
