Department of Electronic Engineering

In order to produce pragmatic, creative and internationally competitive human resources that can lead the knowledge-based society in the 21st century, the College of Electronics and Information Engineering has established the educational objectives as follows, so that the college may cultivate specific abilities of the students, based on the field-oriented engineering education system in the electronics, information and communication fields.

Department Introduction

Since the establishment of Kwangwoon Educational Institute in 1934, the Department of Electronic Engineering, considered as a representative key department of the university, has been performing a pivotal role as a pioneer in developing the electronic engineering in Korea for the past 70 years. In particular the department has been taking the lead in creative, competitive education and research in order to yield human resources needed for the core electronic engineering fields, such as communication networks, multimedia signal processing, and wireless communication. The excellence of engineering education accomplished by this department was officially recognized by being successfully accredited from the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK) in 2004. In order to cultivate outstanding engineering students in the information and communication area, an industry-driven department program jointly developed with Samsung Electronics, called the Information Communication Major Track, has also been successfully run by the department.

Educational Objectives

"Training quality engineers with creativity and practical job skills!"

1. Cultivating students' ability to understand and analyze various engineering problems correctly, and solve the problems effectively by using practical tools, on the basis of basic knowledge in electronic engineering,
2. Cultivating students' ability to creatively design the electronic engineering elements, systems and processes according to the given specifications, and set up plans for experiments and implement such experiments for themselves
3. Cultivating students' ability to communicate effectively, participate in teamwork activities, and carry out international cooperation as an electronic engineer
4. Cultivating students' occupational ethics as an electronic engineer, broad understanding of the influence of engineering solution on society, and the ability to participate in life-long education.
